In January of 2024, the Fremont Ice Association in association with SETT LLC set on a mission is to secure Sidner Ice Arena's future and build on the impact it has had on thousands over the last 20 years.
The rink serves as home ice to the Fremont Ice Association teams, Midland Men and Women's Hockey, and provides community programming for thousands of children.
In just a few short months the organization and its volunteers raised $1.2 Million towards our overall goal of $2M for rink renovations. These renovations included the innstall new LED lighting, a new LO-E Ceiling, convert the existing ice sheet to a concrete NHL sized sheet, as well as a few other mechanical upgrades to the facility.
The project began in April with a reopening late August, meaning there was no disruption to the hockey or ice season. Upon opening, the arena changed management from the YMCA to SETT LLC.
The Sidner Ice Arena was constructed in 2003 and 2004, opening in April of 2004. Construction costs for the arena were funded by a donation from the Arena’s namesake, the Sidner family to honor their daughter Anne as well as additional monies raised by the Fremont Community. The arena is part of the Fremont Family YMCA, the second largest YMCA in the nation.
