The Fremont Flyers hockey program would like to announce the hiring of Coach James Heinen as the 2019-20 Fremont Flyers Midwest High School hockey head coach.

Coach Heinen has been a part of the Fremont Flyers for the past three seasons and is currently serving as the head coach for the National Bound Bantam A team.  “I am excited and looking forward to growing Fremont hockey,” stated Heinen after accepting the position early Thursday morning.

Heinen’s coaching career started right after college when he was named the head JV/Assistant Varsity coach at his alma mater- St. Olaf College.  He has coached at various levels since then and will bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Flyers next season.

Hockey Director Garrett Poland stated, “I am excited to witness the continued growth of the Fremont Flyers Hockey program moving into next season.”

The 2019-20 season will mark the second year for the Fremont Flyers in the Midwest HS hockey program.

“I want to share my love and passion for hockey and to be a positive influence on the lives of the young people I am coaching,” remarked Heinen. “My goal for this team is simple.  I want the players to have fun, improve in the game of hockey and most importantly to become better people in the process.”
