The Fremont Flyers PW Travel team won the 12UB Westminster Rocky Mountain Regional tournament in Westminster, Colorado over Thanksgiving weekend.

The team defeated Team Wyoming 6-2 in the championship game - the seventh game in four days - consisting of four round robin games and three playoff games. It was the 30th Annual Rocky Mountain Regional Tournament. The International Silver Stick consists of numerous "regional" tournaments in Canada and the US whereby the various champions advance to represent their region at the International Finals.

The Finals Tournaments are held in both the US and Canada. The Tournament was named after the Ottawa Silver Seven hockey team that won the Stanley Cup from 1903-1905. The term, “Silver Seven”, captured the fact that players were sometimes paid in silver nuggets and that teams were only able to ice seven players (1 goaltender, 2 defensemen, 3 forwards and 1 rover).

The first tournament was held in February of 1958 and was based on a four game total points system. Bantam and Peewee teams from both Potsdam, New York and South Carleton, Ontario each played in a two-game, home-and-home series.

In addition to the win over Wyoming, The Flyers played against area teams from Arvada, Hyland Hills, Colorado Springs, Albuquerque, New Mexico, and the Denver University program. Congrats to the PW Travel Team and coaches!
