The coaches at Revolution Hockey Camps (R.H.C)  are committed leaders chosen for a specific purpose; to humbly encourage the development, execution, and motivation of its players and goalies. Our coaches are intrinsically motivated, meaning they are present at the camps because of their commitment to hockey and the personal development of their camp members. With this comes the guarantee that your child(ren) 's learning environment will be educational, motivational, and inspiring. At R.H.C., we pride ourselves on creating a healthy learning atmosphere that incorporates teamwork and respect for all members. While attending individually, all camp members will develop relationships in the hockey community that will benefit them long after they have participated in the camp. Our camps are proud to give realistic exposure to being a true full-time hockey player, using past and current experiences to create the most effective and applicable training regimen for all positions, styles, and personalities. Whether your child(ren) wishes to be the next Conor McDavid, Marc-Andre Fleury, or Gordie Howe, we at Revolution Hockey Camps guarantee to be just as committed as the individual to help them achieve their goals.

Founder: Angus Laing

Angus Laing, a Scottish goaltender, had a youthful start to professional hockey, making his first professional appearance at 16 years old in the Elite Ice Hockey League of the United Kingdom. Two years later, Coach Gus was allowed the opportunity to study and play collegiate hockey in the United States. After four years, coach Gus graduated from Midland University in 2021 with a Ba in English. He then pursued his Master's Degree in Education with a focus on Sports Leadership at East Texas Baptist University, continuing his collegiate playing career and graduating in the summer of 2022. During his time in Texas, Angus realized a complete disregard for integrity in businesses that claim to give the best product possible for a ridiculous price. We see skating coaches, sports psychologists, and strength coaches taking one aspect and blowing it out of proportion to satisfy a customer who thinks more of one thing is better than a consistency of multiple. Angus was always a hard worker in his team dynamic and has directed this work ethic to give children the tools necessary to make their dreams come true, something he feels was not at his disposal during his playing career.

"My mission is to create a positive, creative, hardworking, and committed atmosphere for the future hockey players of Nebraska. Great hockey states currently surround Nebraska, such as Minnesota and Missouri, yet, we are lacking in our support of the younger generations in Nebraska to take their game to the next level. While junior leagues are starting to grow in numbers, the commitment to player development is not being matched. Revolution hockey camps have been created to address just that. We want your child to be just as successful as much as they want to be themselves, and the best way to do that is to address the three main aspects of the game.

  1. Individual skills (skating, passing, etc.)

You cannot be a good hockey player without developing fundamental skills. Most camps focus on this as their main attraction to their camp. "Skate faster, shoot harder." These fundamentals are essential for hockey players through every level and, thus, need attention all year round. We take our camp and split it in half. Half is individual skill development, and the other half applies those skills in game situations to make your team more successful.

  1. Team Environment Application (puck support, offensive and defensive strategies, etc.)

Let's be honest. We play a team sport for the opportunity to be a part of a group that comes together to share a common goal and find success in doing so. So why stop our development at the individual stage when we are part of something bigger? R.H.C. takes the individual and their skill set and teaches them

how to apply them in a team/game situation. We teach the players to recognize what skill set is best used, when, and where. That way, we don't have, hypothetically, players dumping and changing in a shootout. Instead, we have players finding quiet goal-scoring areas and reading 2-on-1s perfectly.

  1. Athlete Mindset (focus, control, self-talk)

One aspect of the game that is slowly becoming more attentive to today's modern society is the mental side. So many great players quit because of mental reasons. Whether it be anxiety, PTSD, or lack of confidence, we at R.H.C are confident in giving the tools to our athletes to take control of their own development. To learn that action in the mental aspect is just as important as the physical. This is why we will work with our athletes on their mental athleticism just as often as their physical athleticism. Skills such as focus, confidence, humility, and, most of all, gratitude. Moreover, these skills are helpful in normal society too. Teaching your child how to control their pre-game anxieties will have the same effect as before their first job interview. These skills are essential in taking the physical skills learned and applying them consistently when they return to their respective teams.

Here at REVOLUTION HOCKEY CAMPS, your child(ren) won't just learn and own new skills; they will understand them. They will have confidence in attacking their weaknesses as they approach them with open-mindedness and self-reassurance. Moreover, they will realize their improvement when they go to their next team practice, and other players show signs of frustration and failure while they learn from failure and continue to move forward. Once your child attends REVOLUTION HOCKEY CAMPS, they will have a continuous development, improvement, and successful journey with the tools we provide them."

What you can expect from us:

More important than anything is your child's safety! Your child will be in a controlled environment with adult supervision in every situation needed. Your child will not be left on their own at any point during the camp where adult supervision is expected. Our staff is committed to making the development and well-being of all our attendees their top priority. We are currently looking at a ratio of 1 coach for every 6-8 attendees.

It is important to note that your children will be exposed to new learning. With this exposure can come frustration, especially when faced with adversity. Our coaching staff's job is to keep every interaction positive and constructive with our camp attendees. In the unlikely event that two or more camp members have an altercation, we will resolve the conflict and appoint responsibility where required. We will not publicly humiliate as punishment. REVOLUTION HOCKEY CAMPS will NOT accept bullying, hazing, racism, hate speech, or such of any kind at our camps. Our camps are for everyone, in the same way hockey is. If players conduct themselves in a way that violates these requirements, they will be removed from camp without a refund.

We understand that this is an opportunity to learn for your child(ren); thus, we will make every effort to make any situation as educational as possible, including conflict. It is not our intention to separate individuals but rather to bring people of different personalities together to achieve a greater goal. We will teach your child the importance of teamwork and individualism inequitable forms.

What we expect from you:

If your child has a medical condition, we require notification upon registration. Your child will not be secluded from any activity unless ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY. We will adapt our curriculum for your child to provide the same value as the rest. We must be aware of medications taken while your child is in our care.

If you have actively involved your child in a hockey camp before, you will be accustomed to your home's brief peace and quiet while camp is in session. We encourage you to view our on-ice practices, hence why we

have made them the first activity of the day. Here, players can showcase what they are learning to you, the people they wish to make most proud. With that being said, we appreciate the trust you have instilled in us to develop your child, and with that comes the extension of that trust. To have the whole experience, the less interaction with parents during the camp, the more the players will remain focused on their game - and while you make the admirable commitment to let them pursue it, it is just that—their game. Part of the athlete's mindset education is not to allow extrinsic motivators to distract them from their personal growth. Thus, maintaining that separation from parent and child promotes the child to focus on their development while camp is in session. Don't worry! Your child(ren) will have the entire evening to fill you in on what you missed. Additionally, staff members will be at your disposal to answer any questions or concerns you may have throughout the duration of camp.

Camp attendees are to provide their own lunches. When your child arrives in the morning, they will need to have EVERYTHING with them for the day. We will send out, prior to camp, a list of all the essentials for your child. It is important, however, to take into account the strenuous activity during the camps. Thus, it is essential that your child(ren) is provided with the correct nutrients over the camp. It is better to give them too much rather than not enough. Your child will have their very own locker room stall, where their belongings will be respected by their peers, and thus, your child can bring any provisions they may need with them.

What we expect from your child(ren):

      Respect!

Our coaches have extensive resumes and are more than qualified to coach your child into the hockey player they aspire to be. They have dedicated their lives to the game of hockey and the betterment of its youth players. Coaches will NOT tolerate disrespect of any kind from players and will show the same respect they are given. We expect to see hockey players on the first day excited, motivated and encouraged to become better. Our coaches will encourage that excitement and motivation and harness it into controlled development in a fun and lively environment. Should your child show any sign of remorse or complaint about a coach's efforts or not feel respected, do not hesitate to contact us immediately.

Your child will be subject to intense training in a fun environment. They should be aware of their behavior and its impact on others and their reaction to other people's behavior. A child who promotes negative behavior from another camp attendee is just as involved as the person conducting the behavior. Campers will be respectful to ALL individuals at REVOLUTION HOCKEY CAMP (coaches, participants, staff, etc.). Additionally, REVOLUTION HOCKEY CAMP expects its attendees to be polite and mannerly to all people involved in the camp. We will reward behavior that positively exemplifies the above.

Now that the serious stuff is out of the way. We want your child(ren) to have fun. That is why they play the game, after all. Our activities, while educational, will be enjoyable for all. This is an opportunity for your children to submerge themselves in hockey completely, and thus, they should enjoy doing so. However, fair competition and suitable rewards will encourage your child(ren) to show up every day, giving their best effort across all areas, which is all we ask for at the end of the day.

Post Camp Awards

Pick up

Drop Off: On the first day, camp registration will take place. Players will have assigned locker room stalls with Jersey already hanging up, along with any forms needing to be signed. Coaches will be with their assigned locker room to answer any questions and help with any concerns.

Pre-practice Mindset: 10 minutes before players get on the ice, players will be ready in their gear in the locker room. Coaches will explain the focus of the practice, and players will identify three key features they wish to improve on during the practice in relation to the practice plan topic. For example, if the practice focuses on passing, the player might wish to improve their acceptance of the puck on their backhand, or handle poor passes, etc.

On Ice: Players will work in a curriculum-based environment. We will have clear progress goals set out for the kids during the practices. While players will be at different levels, they should all progress at the same rate. Players will be in competitive environments, showcasing their will to compete and be successful while helping their peers become more successful too.

Dryland/ Off-ice

Each day, campers will attend one hour of off-ice conditioning. These will be different each day in reference to the focus of the on-ice practice. We will work a lot on hand-eye coordination, core stability, explosiveness, and food speed. Additionally, we will have small games that make the athletes think as well as a complete vigorous activity directly linked to their hockey development.

LUNCH/Video analysis:

Each day players will be responsible for their own lunch and snacks. The Camp will provide water filling stations, and there will be concessions stand available during the day. Each player should be suited to a well-balanced diet. Lunch will be in the party room each day, where players can watch top NHL news and highlights. Additionally, each player will be taken out for a one-to-one video analysis session. Here the coach will break down the video aspect of one ice session to adhere to the strengths and weaknesses of the individual player.

Athlete mindset training

After lunch, players will be given a 45min-1 hour session of mindset workshop. Here the players will develop their mental game, incorporating confidence, focus, and visualization into their learning. Your child(ren) will be taught how to control their mentality when approached with adversity.

End of Camp Awards

At the end of the camp, coaches will hand out awards for most improved, hardest worker, and best teammate (voted by other camp members). Additionally, each camp member will receive 10% off the next camp in a ‘goodie bag’ with some tape and accessories.
