The Fremont Flyers 10U Squirt Select team completed a three-peat winning their third straight Midwest Select Hockey League Gold Division. They faced a tough Kansas City Carriage Club team in the championship game and came away with a 4-1 victory.

The league is comprised of select teams from Nebraska, Kansas and Iowa. The Flyers were dominant from the jump going 12-0 in league and tournament play, with games in Fremont, Wichita and Kansas City.

They completed five shutouts with the combined efforts of goalies Rosario Caniglia and Ethan Casarotto and scored 84 goals and only allowed nine.

The Flyers overcame plenty of adversity however, as the team had to play shorthanded in the tournament with absences at Forward, Defense and Goalie, but they stepped up and rose to the occasion to achieve one of their season long goals.

Head Coach Kent Johnson was proud of his players,

"Winning the Midwest Select championship was one of our goals set at the start of the season. The kids have grown so much since we began in October and are playing great team hockey as every kid contributed to achieve this milestone."

A couple of highlights from the season were when Jaxon Hallstrom and Sawyer Rix punched in two goals apiece on their respective 10th and 11th birthdays.

The Squirts who are led by coach Johnson, as well as assistants James Krusic and Kyle Worner, have three remaining tournaments to finish their season in Kansas City, Fargo and Omaha.
