This Saturday is for the Girls

The Fremont Flyers in conjunction with a private donor are very excited to announce the first GIRLS ONLY hockey day Saturday Feb. 1 from 11:30 a.m-2:30 p.m. at the Sidner Ice Arena.

The Fremont Flyers in conjunction with a private donor will host the first GIRLS ONLY hockey day Saturday Feb. 1 from 11:30 a.m-2:30 p.m. at the Sidner Ice Arena.

Close to 40 girls, some currently playing hockey or interested in learning to play hockey, have signed up. The event was capped at 40 and sold out. Girls range in age from 4-14 with most being 12 and younger.

The first hour will consist of skating skills, drills, and, station-based activities.  The event will conclude with an all-girls scrimmage!

The Midland Women's Hockey Team will then take on Jamestown University later in the day! Free admission for all participants!

Lauren Koborg, who plays 14U competitive hockey in Fremont, and her mom Erin, will be available to do interviews on site.

USA Hockey numbers showed last time the movie Inside Out was in theatres, which features a female hockey player in the movie, hockey participation numbers of girls went up. With the recent release of Inside Out 2, it is expected even more growth of the girls game will happen. This is in conjunction with more girls collegiate teams as well as the PWHL) Professional Women's Hockey League, which is now looking to expand into other markets in its second full successful season.
