Three Flyer teams concluded their seasons with strong showings at the Omaha Stampede.

Peewee and Squirt Silver, as well as Peewee Gold finished up their seasons with a successful Omaha Stampede weekend ending with a combined 9-2-1 record and third, second and first place finishes respectively on the weekend.

"That game had everything," said Peewee Gold Head Coach Kent Johnson, whose son Cole, scored the game winner in the championship with just over a minute left to win 4-3 over Des Moines.

The game also featured a Des Moines penalty shot goal and the Flyers other three goals were all on the powerplay as special teams with special plays by special players capped the season for the team who finished 21-19-8 on the season after starting the season 1-7-3.

Squirt Silver went 3-0 in 10UC pool play, which earned them a rematch with Wichita's Travel team who beat them in the Midwest "Select" Gold Championship back in January. After drawing within one, to make it 2-1 on a Sydney Arndt goal, the Jr. Thunder pulled away late. Silver had won nine in a row, including a championship win at the Fort Collins MyHockey 10UB Rocky Mountain shootout, before the Stampede final loss to cap a season where the team finished 18-12-3 on the season.

Peewee Silver finished their end-of-season tournament 2-1-1 in the 12UC division and won third place with an 8-4 win over Okoboji in the Sunday finale for bronze. Forward Charlie Patera scored four goals in the game. The team concluded the season 18-11-3.

Big thanks to head coaches Austin Smutz (Squirt Silver), Brian Mellon (Peewee Silver) and Kent Johnson (Peewee Gold) as well as all their assistants for a great season!
