The Fremont Nebraska (Warbirds) are 2025 14U 1A National Champions after a thrilling come-from-behind 4-3 shootout win over Team Wyoming on April 6, 2025, in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

Playoff Games

 

  • Championship 9 a.m. CST (April 6) vs. Team Wyoming (4-3 shootout win). The Warbirds were down 1-0 early, and 3-1 late, in the game before a Kyler Wyle shorthanded goal sparked a comeback and Carsten Vorland netted the equalizer to send the game to overtime and an eventual shootout (Read the full story).

 

  • Semifinal 6:45 p.m. CST (April 5) vs. Naschille Flyers (7-1 win). Four first period goals rocketed the Warbirds into the lead and they poured one more in the second to take a commanding 5-0 lead into the third. A strong push from the Nashville Flyers wasn't enough as Kobe Powers notched his tength goal of the tournament and the Warbirds crusied to a 7-1 victory.

 

  • Quarterfinal: 11:15 a.m. CST (April 5) vs. Atlanta (Georgia) Fire (4-2 shootout win). The Warbirds avenged the assocation's 5-0 loss in Fremont's first national appearance back in 2019 with a 4-3 shootout win! Goaltender Gio Desciscio stopped 31 shots plus two more in the shootout for the win. Lucas Dennis and Kobe Powers popped the shootout golas while Powers and Dennis both scored in regulation as well as Connor Peters for his first of the tournament.

  • Game One: 2:15 p.m. CST (April 2) vs. Central (Vermont) Black Bears (3-2 win). After a slow start that saw the Warbirds get down 1-0 early in the game, Kobe Powers scored a natural hat trick in the second period and the team held on for a 3-2 win in a tight checking affair.

 

  • Game Two: 10 a.m. CST (April 3) vs. Charleston (South Carolina) Stingrays (8-0 win). In a dominant 8-0 victory, eight players recorded points, and Gio Desciscio earned the shut out in net. The team likely secured a spot in Saturday morning's quarterfinals with one game remaining in pool play.

 

  • Game Three: 4:15 p.m. CST (April 4) vs. Spokane (Washington) Jr. Chiefs (4-1 loss). The Warbirds scored first on a goal by Carsten Vorland but the Chiefs responded with three quick goals in a three minute span and held on for a 4-1 final. The Warbirds qualified for Saturday quarterfinal action despite the loss.
