Meet This Years Candidates

Sidner Spring Camps and 3v3

As many of you may or may not be aware, on January 28th the USA Hockey Congress approved legislation regarding the mandatory use of neck laceration protection for all players under the age of 18 beginning August 1, 2024.  Neck laceration protection (otherwise known as "neck guards") have long been discussed, but in recent months, an increase in injuries has pushed urgency on the issue.  And while neck guards have always been strongly encouraged, this marks a significant change in mandatory equipment rules.

Fremont Flyers Hockey is governed by the rules and regulations of USA Hockey and every Fremont Flyers Hockey player under the age of 18 will, as of August 1, 2024, be required to wear neck guards at practice and in all games and tournaments, regardless of whether or not that tournament is a part of USA Hockey.  We realize this may generate many questions, many of which can be answered here on the USA Hockey FAQ page  (Player Safety & Health (usahockey.com).  Neck guards will continue to be strongly encouraged for players over 18 years of age but not mandated at this time.

Fremont Flyers Hockey wholeheartedly supports this rule change and wants to make it very clear in doing so, player safety is paramount to our organization.  After reviewing the FAQ page, if you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to coaches, team managers or program directors.

Thank you for your continued support in our efforts to make our players as safe as possible as they participate and enjoy the sport of hockey.
