Dear Fremont Players, Coaches and Fans,

Brookings is excited to welcome the Fremont Flyers for the Dakota Premier Classic hockey tournament! As a hockey mom myself, I know how excited the skaters, parents and fans are for the season to begin!

I wanted to pass on a few things to help you and your team have a great experience in town. Everything you need to know about the tournament and Larson Ice Center can be found at https://www.brookingsrangers.com/. There you will find information about COVID-19 rules and procedures as well as the tournament schedule.

There’s plenty to do between games. From the bright lights of Garden Glow at McCrory Gardens to a stop in at the South Dakota Agriculture Heritage Museum, there’s lots to do to keep you busy. Moms will love an opportunity to browse at Pasque, the Carrot Seed or any of our antique shops in Downtown Brookings! We have got some great and safe ideas on our website https://visitbrookingssd.com/resources/safe-travel-information to keep you busy all weekend.

When it comes to finding a place for team meals, give Cubby’s Sports Bar & Grill on Main Street a try. For breakfast, stop in at the Pheasant Restaurant for their legendary Nordic waffles. If you find yourself in need of a little morning pick-me-up, Choco Latte Coffee is the closest coffee shop to the rink or, if you drive a few more blocks up 6th Street, you’ll find Kool Beans and Cottonwood Bistro.

We want you to have a fun and safe experience while in Brookings. Just a reminder, we have a mask mandate, but you can still enjoy all our community has to offer. Please share this information with your team and do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.

Best of luck to your team!
