This page provides information for those who are new and/or are interested in learning more about hockey and what we have to offer.

The Fremont Flyers hockey program has several different opportunities for your child to experience hockey.  Below are the different options we offer.

Try Hockey For Free

The Fremont Flyers in conjunction with the Sidner Ice Arena are proud to partner with USA Hockey's National initiative- Try Hockey For Free.  This event takes place twice per year and offers anyone 12 and under the opportunity to Try Hockey at no obligation to families.  Gear and Equipment are provided the day of as well as on and off-ice instruction.  After completion, children receive a certificate and a free USA Hockey jersey.

SIGN YOUR CHILD UP TODAY

Is your child interested in learning the basic skills to play hockey?  Would you like the opportunity for your child to try hockey before committing to a league?  If you answered yes to either of these questions then Intro to Hockey is the perfect program for you.  This 5 week program teaches kids the necessary skating, stick handling, shooting and passing skills needed to participate in the sport of hockey.  Once your child has completed one session, our coaches and directors will be happy to help you decide whether your child is ready to participate in the league or continue to take Intro to Hockey classes.

Cost: $50 per session for Fremont Family YMCA Members               $75 for non- FFYMCA Members - Due at the Gear Checkout  (cash, credit card or check paid at the rink)

• Open to any youth ages 12 and younger
• All equipment is provided
• The class will be limited to 40
• For those needing gear, please attend the corresponding gear checkout night
• Class is- Mondays 5:15-5:45pm (please  have child ready for on-ice activity at 5:15)

Session 1- October 9, 16, 23, 30, Nov 6

Session 2- Nov 20, 27, Dec 4, 11, 18

Intro To Skating

The Sidner Ice Arena will be offering an Intro to Skating class on Thursdays from 5-5:30pm.  This class will teach the basics of skating including beginner skating as well as edge control and technique.  Skaters will be divided by ability levels.  Class will run for 5 weeks.  Skate rental is available.

Session 1- October 12, 19, 26, Nov 2, 9

Cost:  $50 Y Members (due first night of class)

$75 for non YMCA members

Become a Fremont Flyer

Is your player ready to take the next step in hockey?  The Fremont Flyers hockey program offers something for everyone.  Players as young as 4 and as old as a Senior in high school can enroll in the Fremont Flyers Program.

Not sure if your child is ready?  Call the arena (402-753-0200) and speak with Garrett or Angie and they will be more than happy to discuss your options with you

Fremont Flyers Age Divisions

Mite (under 8 & under 6)

Squirt (10 & under)

PeeWee (12 & under)

Bantam (14 & under)

High School (9th-12th grade)

We offer divisions at the house, select and travel divisions.
