Meet This Years Candidates

Greg Evert

▪ Name: Greg Evert

▪ Why I want to hold this position on the board:

My family joined the Flyer’s program when my son was in the learn to play program.  From the minute we stepped into the rink, we felt like we were at home.  This program has meant so much to our family that I want to help ensure it has the same impact for those coming through the doors next season and seasons to come.

▪ Experience that I bring that will be helpful in this board position:

In my current profession, I lead a team of 5 who monitor a $6.6bn portfolio for compliance within their loan agreements.  Through this journey, I have been involved in various projects and workgroups that have been successful in increasing profitability, streamlining processes, and improving efficiency.  Outside of work, I coach my son’s baseball team and assist with my daughter’s softball team.  I have also served on our HOA board for3 years.

▪ Past and/or current involvement in the Fremont Flyer hockey program:

My son is going to be a second-year squirt and during his mite seasons, I assisted on the bench when needed and help the team with travel accommodations.

▪ Anything further that you would like to share with the association membership:

I firmly believe that the Fremont Flyers program has a bright future.  We have all seen the impact a community can have on an organization by the recent Fund the Rink campaign.  My family and I are grateful for the opportunity this organization has provided to not only our son, but all of the young men and women that have set foot in the rink.  I’m just looking to give back to a community that has given us so much.

My goal of becoming a board member comes from my desire to positively impact the organization, and to assist in making decisions that drive program closer to fulfilling its mission of growing and maintaining the hockey program for years to come.

▪ Experience that I bring that will be helpful in this board position:

I am an excellent communicator and team player. I believe in cultivating and maintaining strong relationships with those around me and that open lines of communication are the key to success.

In my career, I have held several positions dealing with business operations and management that I believe will be directly applicable to my success in the role. I’ve also had the pleasure of coaching recreational and select sports for a couple of different organizations, which will allow me to bring in fresh ideas and perspective.

▪ Past and/or current involvement in the Fremont Flyer hockey program:

I currently have one child in the program, Liam, who will be a second year squirt.

▪ Anything further that you would like to share with the association membership:

My family made the move to the Fremont hockey program in 2023. In our short time with the program, we have made lifelong friends, and have been extremely impressed by those running the program at all levels, making it a very rewarding experience. We couldn’t have asked for more. The Fremont hockey family is truly something special and I want nothing more than to help it thrive.
